Alternatives in Student Housing: The Answer to the Urgent Need for Modern Housing Options

As fall 2010 enrollment numbers come in, colleges and universities must quickly decide where to place incoming students. It’s a familiar issue that many schools face every year about this time; deciding whether to renovate existing structures or build something new that will both attract and keep students living on campus.

At DeLuxe, we’ve developed our Student Living Series; three unique patterned designs for student housing that give colleges and universities as well as private developers the tools to design premiere student housing facilities quickly and efficiently.

These patterned designs are each based on a three or five modular unit configuration. Depending on how many rooms, suites and common areas are needed, student housing can be built up to 12 stories in height with an unlimited amount of square footage.

Each of the three designs in the Student Living Series includes combinations of single rooms, suites, ADA accessible rooms, resident director suites and laundry facilities. Common areas include fitness centers, lounges, and snack bars; all designed to give students amenities they’ve come to expect from both on and off campus student housing.

There’s no question that our Student Living Series gives colleges and universities a serious advantage by enabling them to choose whatever combination of rooms and suites are needed. The true benefits, however, come from being able to quickly build modern student housing that not only meets enrollment numbers, but attracts and retain students. It’s a win-win situation for the students and the schools.
